Reinvestment in Maintenance of Sales Revenue Signboards
Ulsan City is selling the names of city bus stops. Through the paid sale of bus stop names, it aims to generate profits for private businesses and increase non-tax revenue for the local government.
On the 9th, Ulsan City announced that it will recruit bidders for the "2023 Paid Use of City Bus Stop Name Co-usage" project from the 26th to the 29th of this month.
The bus stop names for sale include 92 locations where commercial districts have formed and shelters have been installed, such as Hakseong-ro, Jungang-ro, Samsan-ro, Hwabong-ro, and Guyeong-ro.
Companies wishing to bid must visit the Ulsan City Bus and Taxi Division in person to submit their bid documents from 9 a.m. on the 26th to 6 p.m. on the 29th.
The selection method involves choosing the company that offers the highest amount based on the base price for each bus stop, among those who pass the appropriateness review of name usage by the Public Transportation Improvement Committee.
The selected company will promote its name through bus stop signboards, route maps, platform names, and onboard announcements for three years.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "Private businesses can pursue profit realization through advertising using bus stop names, especially in commercial areas along busy main roads," adding, "The revenue collected from the paid sale of bus stop names will be reinvested in maintaining bus stop signboard facilities."
