He recalled, "Three days ago, I ruptured my Achilles tendon while playing tennis," and added, "At the moment of lightly serving and heavily landing, I heard a snap sound (or at least it felt like that), and an intense pain suddenly struck below my left calf.

Chairman Choi said, "Lately, I haven't had weekends off and have been traveling without adjusting to time differences, so I think I neglected my physical condition too much. I thought I would play tennis on a rare day off, but my body was too stiff," adding, "I should have spent Memorial Day solemnly pulling weeds in the yard with the Taegeukgi flag displayed."

He continued, "Fortunately, the X-ray and other scans showed that surgery was not necessary, so I just had a cast applied in the emergency room and was discharged after five hours."

Chairman Choi also emphasized the significance of the Korea-Japan Chamber of Commerce chairmen's meeting held in Busan that day. He said, "Today marks a meaningful event as it is the first time in six years since 2017 that the chairmen of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Japan Chamber of Commerce are meeting in Busan," adding, "It is also an important event for the 2030 Busan Expo bid, so even if my appearance is quite pitiful, please pray that the event will be successfully concluded."
