Gokseong-gun Holds Unity Event for Return-to-Farming and Rural Migrants

Opening a Communication Platform through Talent Donation, Village Exchange, and Sports Events

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that it held a One Mind event for returnees to farming and rural areas on the 7th.

This One Mind event for returnees to farming and rural areas was organized to promote talent donation activities and village exchange events for the integration of returnees and local residents, as well as to foster unity among the returnees.

The Gokseong-gun Returnees to Farming and Rural Areas Association visited Chimgok Village in Ogok-myeon as part of their talent donation activities and replaced 30 old mailboxes with new ones.

In particular, the village chief of Chimgok Village, who settled there after returning to farming 10 years ago, played a role in harmonizing with the residents and promoting communication between returnees and local residents.

Returnees and residents shared samgyetang together at the village hall, boosting the village’s vitality.

A resident, Mr. A, said, “Even though it’s a busy farming season, it was nice to have the mailboxes replaced and to spend time getting to know each other better.”

Additionally, a sports event was held to strengthen the unity of the members of the Gokseong-gun Returnees to Farming and Rural Areas Association.

Teams were divided by region and competed in nine events including tug-of-war, archery, and jegichagi, creating an opportunity for stronger bonds between regions.

A county official said, “We are grateful that the returnees brought vitality to the village by communicating with residents through activities such as mailbox replacement and meal hosting. We hope that the members’ bonds will grow stronger and that information about rural life will continue to be shared.”

In June, a rural life experience education program will be held for 2 nights and 3 days at the Gokseong-gun Support Center, allowing participants to experience farm life. A return-to-farming experience school where apricots, blueberries, and melons can be harvested, as well as practical life education courses such as woodworking, coffee, and natural dyeing, are planned.
