Jang Ye-chan on Kim Nam-guk's lawsuit: "I wonder if they didn't do coins when writing the complaint"

Kim Nam-guk Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Ruling Party's Kim Seong-won and Jang Ye-chan
Jang Ye-chan: "Writing a Lawsuit While Receiving Pay Without Working?"

Jang Ye-chan, the youngest supreme council member of the People Power Party, criticized independent lawmaker Kim Nam-guk, who is embroiled in a controversy over virtual asset investments and has filed a defamation lawsuit against him and People Power Party lawmaker Kim Seong-won, saying, "He has neither the slightest conscience nor decency."

On the same day, Jang wrote on Facebook, "A member of the National Assembly who does not even fulfill basic duties, engages in pathological coin trading, and has aroused public outrage due to suspicions of conflicts of interest and corruption, responding with legal action is an act that shows no shame."

Jang also questioned, "I wonder if he refrained from trading coins while drafting the complaint, just as he traded coins during the Itaewon disaster inquiry or ministerial hearings," and criticized, "Are you happy receiving your salary and office maintenance expenses paid by taxpayers without fail?"

He added, "He neither attends standing committee meetings nor plenary sessions but receives no-work salary while having time to write a complaint," emphasizing, "Kim Nam-guk, a salary loafer, not a monthly salary loafer, I hope you do not invest even the salary you receive from taxpayers in junk coins."

On the same day, lawmaker Kim announced that he had filed a defamation lawsuit against Jang Ye-chan and Kim Seong-won, who leads the People Power Party's Coin Gate fact-finding team, for defamation by spreading false facts.

Through Facebook, lawmaker Kim said, "Raising suspicions against public officials and using them as a means of political attacks is very natural," but added, "It is unacceptable to make malicious remarks by asserting false facts as true without the slightest evidence."

Kim said, "Since becoming a member of the National Assembly, I have never sued anyone even once. I believed that suspicions and criticisms against politicians should be freely made." He continued, "Since both lawmaker Kim and supreme council member Jang hold political positions, they must take responsibility for their statements, and due to their repeated malicious and groundless claims, I was compelled to decide to file a lawsuit."
