High Humidity During Jangma Season Can Cause Diseases Such as Arthritis, Atopic Dermatitis, and Allergies
LG Electronics announced the launch of the new 2023 model of the LG Whisen Objet Collection, which enhances design with Objet Collection colors as well as powerful dehumidification performance and hygiene management functions through a dual inverter.
Recently, dehumidifiers have become essential home appliances for health management, such as arthritis and atopy, in addition to removing moisture during the summer monsoon season. This is because a humid indoor environment can affect diseases like arthritis, atopy, and allergies.
High humidity in summer can worsen arthritis, so proper humidity control is necessary to relieve pain. A humid indoor environment can cause increased joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. When the home environment is humid, the prevalence of atopic dermatitis also increases. According to Professor Kim Hyun of Catholic University, the risk of atopic dermatitis occurrence in lower-grade elementary school children living in humid home environments increased by 1.9 times.
The LG Whisen dehumidifier is equipped with a dual inverter, providing powerful dehumidification performance, low noise, and usage without worrying about electricity bills. The new product applies the only dual inverter motor in Korea, delivering the best dehumidification performance among dehumidifiers of the same class. Additionally, all models have received the highest energy efficiency grade 1, and when using the smart dehumidification mode for an average of 5.7 hours daily (based on the Korea Energy Agency's monthly energy cost), the monthly electricity cost is only about 8,000 KRW (20-liter model) and about 6,000 KRW (16-liter model). Fast dehumidification speed is also a strength. It can reduce humidity from 70%, where mold actively grows, to the optimal indoor humidity of 60% in just 7 minutes, providing a comfortable environment.
The new product also includes hygiene management functions for skin and respiratory diseases. The UV nano function applied to the LG Whisen dehumidifier sterilizes the fan that blows air using UV LEDs. This removes 99.99% of harmful bacteria and viruses such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli on the fan surface. Additionally, after dehumidification ends, the automatic drying function dries the moisture inside the product for 5 minutes, allowing hygienic management of the device. By separately purchasing an air purification kit and attaching it to the air intake of the dehumidifier, users can use it with greater peace of mind. The 2023 newly released Objet Collection design does not disrupt interior decor wherever it is placed in the home. The colors are available in Calming Beige and Clay Brown.
Furthermore, it features differentiated convenience functions such as continuous drainage, which eliminates the need to empty the water tank separately when a hose is connected; an externally exposed water tank that allows users to immediately check the water level; water tank lighting that notifies when full; and UP appliances that upgrade functions.
The price of the new product ranges from 649,000 KRW to 749,000 KRW based on dehumidification capacity and the presence of the automatic drying function.
An LG Electronics official stated, “Dehumidifiers have become essential home appliances for health, not just seasonal appliances for summer,” and added, “We hope you have a healthy and comfortable summer with the LG Whisen dehumidifier, which features powerful dehumidification, hygiene management functions, and the Objet Collection design.”
