[One Day Ten Thousand Steps, One Day One Thousand Characters] Singer Sean Walks and Runs Daily to Donate

"The weather was great, and walking along the Namsan trail where I usually run allowed me to see many things I had missed before."

Famous for his donations and good deeds, singer Sean participated in a walking event hosted by Habitat for Humanity Korea, an international nonprofit housing organization, on June 6th, Memorial Day. Sean posted a photo with actor Park Bo-gum on his social media, writing, "Thank you. Let's run together at Namsan again next time." This event was part of the 'Honor House' campaign, a housing improvement project for Korean War veterans, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and Korea Housing Finance Corporation to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the armistice agreement. It was designed to help veterans, whose average age is in their 80s and 90s, live their remaining years more comfortably. Before the walk, a donation ceremony was held where Korea Housing Finance Corporation donated 405 million KRW after achieving the target step count of 727 million steps (representing the armistice date, July 27) through the step donation platform 'Big Walk.' The total donation amount of 425 million KRW, including the full participation fees from 1,000 individual participants, will be used to improve the living conditions of the veterans.

Sean energized the individual participants who signed up for the walking event with a surprise performance and walked 6.6 km together at Namsan Park. Sean said, "We far exceeded the goal of 700 million steps, with 1.2 billion steps donated. All participants showed the power of 'togetherness.'" He added, "Many families participated, and I hope parents and children walking together had a chance to talk about how the Republic of Korea was protected." Habitat for Humanity Korea has been supporting housing improvements not only for Korean War veterans but also for descendants of independence activists. Since 2020, Sean has been organizing donation marathons such as the '3.1 Run' and '815 Run,' raising about 2.4 billion KRW over the past three years to provide homes for a total of 86 households of independence activists' descendants.

Last year, on Liberation Day (August 15), Sean participated in the 815 Run event from early morning until late at night. The 815 Run is a donation marathon that reflects gratitude toward independence activists and delivers a positive message, "It will be okay, Republic of Korea!" Starting as a virtual event in 2020, it was held for the fifth time last year. At that time, Sean ran 81.5 km, supported by five pacers who took turns running 8.15 km each to help maintain his pace. The course was Yeouido Park - Mapo Bridge - Yeouido Park. Sean completed the 81.5 km journey in 7 hours, 27 minutes, and 24 seconds. After finishing, he ran another 4.5 km in the evening at Yeouido Park with 100 runners. Combining the participation fees and donations from 45 pacers and 3,610 815 runners, a total of 1.11352 billion KRW was raised.

Earlier, on June 3, Sean ran 5 km around Samcheong-dong from Seoul Plaza with 100 runners at the '2023 Zero Seoul 5K' event, organized with Shinsegae Duty Free and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. In line with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality, Shinsegae Duty Free donated 50,000 KRW to the Environmental Foundation for each participant who completed the run. On May 29, Sean participated in the '2023 Compassion Wonder Shoes' event, which gifts shoes and dreams to children in Kenya. This event was held both offline and online simultaneously, with 2,206 participants raising a total of about 105.9 million KRW. The funds will be used to provide shoes to 5,154 children at the Kenya Compassion Child Center. Sean will also participate on the 24th at Nodeulnaru Park in the '2023 Miracle X Ice Bucket Challenge Run in Seoul,' which supports the construction of a Lou Gehrig's disease care center.
