CJ CheilJedang to Showcase Innovative Products with Three Shinsegae Distribution Companies

Launch of Planned Products in 5 Major Categories Including Q4 HMR
August CJ Core New Products Pre-released on Shinsegae Platform

CJ CheilJedang announced on the 8th that it has formed a partnership with the three Shinsegae distribution companies (Emart, SSG.com, and Gmarket) to jointly develop products.

This collaboration is based on the concept of "The most innovative food in the world that has never existed," and will focus on two main areas: ▲data-driven innovative product commercialization ▲distribution and marketing. CJ CheilJedang holds core competencies in product and brand planning, manufacturing, and marketing, while the three Shinsegae distribution companies excel in data, MD, platform planning, and operations, creating expected synergy.


First, the goal is to launch innovative products by the fourth quarter of this year, focusing on CJ CheilJedang’s major home meal replacement (HMR) products such as dumplings, soup dishes, meal kits, and ESG (environment, social, governance) category vegan products. Brand managers from CJ CheilJedang and buyers from the three Shinsegae distribution companies will collaborate to derive insights based on market and customer data and plan new products optimized for customer needs. A symbolic logo representing the collaboration was also created, symbolizing the infinite possibilities of the universe and the flower, a common symbol of both companies.


Additionally, CJ CheilJedang will first introduce its major new products scheduled for release in the second half of this year on Shinsegae’s platforms. The agreed-upon categories include a total of five: HMR (such as dumplings), K-Street Food (snack foods), and ESG (care food, etc.). These products will be available sequentially from August at Emart, SSG.com, and Gmarket.


As part of the partnership, CJ CheilJedang will operate a themed pavilion at the “Shinsegae Universe Festival” held on the 8th and 9th at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The pavilion is designed to convey expectations for innovation and infinite possibilities through synergy with the three Shinsegae distribution companies and consists of a synergy introduction video zone, an innovative product showcase, and a food lifestyle test and experience zone.


A CJ CheilJedang representative said, “This partnership is significant in that companies with top competitiveness join hands to create products and services that consumers want,” adding, “We will strive to continuously introduce innovative products through corporate synergy.”
