On the 8th, KT announced that it will collaborate with Sangmyung University Creative Arts Gifted Education Center to nurture AI creative convergence talents among elementary school gifted students. This institution, approved by the Seoul Metropolitan Government as a gifted education center, has been operating a gifted education program for 60 elementary students in Seoul since last month, under the theme "Sustainable Earth Stories" for six months. KT is responsible for conducting project-based practical education utilizing artificial intelligence technology.
The practical education led by KT is a project that combines AI and arts. It consists of programs such as ‘Movement Coding: Let’s Dance in the Metaverse!’, ‘Reply! Future Earth’ Coding through Art’, ‘Green Energy: Healthy Earth and Upcycling Art’, and ‘Warm AI and Omnibus Art Theater’. During the summer vacation, a gifted camp will be held where students contemplate social issues like environmental pollution and propose creative solutions. KT plans to utilize various educational tools such as block coding AI Codini. Additionally, KT will support students to take the Future track of the AI competency test 'AICE' designed for elementary students, and those who pass will be awarded the AICE certificate and a digital badge.
Jin Youngshim, Senior Executive Director of KT Group Talent Development Office, stated, “Through the new experience of integrating artificial intelligence and arts, we expect elementary students growing into future talents to understand the diverse possibilities of AI and creatively utilize them.” He added, “Going forward, KT will continue to contribute to nurturing future digital talents by promoting various industry-academia collaborations based on KT’s know-how in AI talent development.”
