June 7, Groundbreaking Ceremony for Indoor Comprehensive Sports Facility Held at Daerim 3 Yusuji
High-Quality Recreational Sports Infrastructure Established for Residents’ Health and Leisure, Including Swimming Pool and Alternative Gymnasium
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced plans to build the Daerim 3 Yusuji Comprehensive Sports Facility in Daerim-dong, an area that has long lacked sports facilities, where all generations can enjoy recreational sports together.
The Daerim 3 Yusuji Comprehensive Sports Facility will have a total floor area of 4,074㎡ and consist of 4 above-ground floors. With a target completion date in the first half of 2026, a total budget of 32.1 billion KRW (4.5 billion KRW from the national government, 4.7 billion KRW from the city, and 22.9 billion KRW from the district) will be invested.
On June 7, a groundbreaking ceremony for the Daerim 3 Yusuji Comprehensive Sports Facility was held at Daerim 3 Yusuji, attended by approximately 200 people including Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and residents. To widely promote the construction of the facility to residents, the event featured an opening performance, declaration of the opening, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, and a blasting ceremony.
The district plans to create a resident-friendly, high-quality comprehensive sports facility to promote healthy leisure activities for residents and to promptly respond to the growing demand for sports facilities more than ever before.
The Daerim 3 Yusuji Comprehensive Sports Facility will include: ▲ On the 1st floor, a parking lot with 42 spaces, a National Fitness Certification Center, and a multipurpose room ▲ On the 2nd floor, an alternative gymnasium and a fitness center ▲ On the 3rd floor, a swimming pool with 7 lanes including 2 lanes for toddlers ▲ On the 4th floor, a cafeteria and an observation room. Additionally, a green garden will be created as an open space for users and residents on the rooftop of the annex building.
Furthermore, the district continues to make efforts to expand recreational sports infrastructure for residents’ healthy lives and leisure activities. In May of this year, an aging inline skating rink was improved and transformed into a premium outdoor sports facility equipped with an artificial turf futsal field, an X-game park, an inline track, and an athletics track. In the second half of this year, construction is also scheduled to begin on the Yangpyeong-dong public complex facility, which will include a swimming pool, alternative gymnasium, public library, daycare center, and public parking lot.
Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon stated, “Upon completion of the Daerim 3 Yusuji Comprehensive Sports Facility, the expansion of relatively scarce indoor sports facilities will provide residents with a high-quality sports facility where they can enjoy various programs nearby even amid their busy daily lives.” He added, “We will continue to do our best not only to build sports facility infrastructure but also to revitalize recreational sports for residents.”
