Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Committee Approves 129 Requests for Emergency Suspension of Public and Private Auctions as Proposed

At the end of June, the first plenary session will decide on victims of jeonse fraud

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Committee announced on the 7th that it has resolved to request an emergency suspension and postponement of auction and public sale for 129 applications for determination of Jeonse fraud victims.

On the same day, the Ministry held the 1st Subcommittee meeting of the Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Committee. During the meeting, the request for emergency suspension and postponement of auction and public sale for 129 applications received over two days since the enactment of the "Special Act on Support for Jeonse Fraud Victims and Housing Stability" on the 1st was approved as originally proposed.


Earlier, on the 1st when the Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Committee was launched, the Ministry held the 1st plenary meeting and approved as originally proposed 242 emergency suspension requests for auction and public sale in Incheon and Busan, and subsequently requested cooperation from each district court.


According to the Ministry, a total of 1,008 applications for determination of Jeonse fraud victims (including pre-registrations) were received by the 2nd. The Ministry plans to sequentially hold the 2nd Subcommittee meeting (2nd subcommittee) on the 14th and the 3rd Subcommittee meeting (3rd subcommittee) on the 21st to promptly proceed with urgent requests for cooperation on suspension and postponement of auction and public sale and victim determination reviews.


Furthermore, the related procedures will be carried out as quickly as possible, and the 2nd plenary meeting will be held at the end of June to conduct reviews and resolutions on the determination of Jeonse fraud victims.


Kwon Hyuk-jin, Director of the Housing and Land Office, said, "There was a consensus among the committee members to promptly proceed with the review and resolution for the determination of Jeonse fraud victims even for some cases where the local governments' investigation of the damage facts has been completed," adding, "The first victim determination is expected within this month."
