First Topic Successfully Concluded with Great Response
Humanities Lectures and Explorations Scheduled Until July
Gwangyang Central Library in Jeonnam announced that the first theme of the ‘Humanities on the Road at the Library’ program, which has been operating since May 18, received great response and was successfully completed.
‘Humanities on the Road at the Library’ is a public contest project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Library Association. Gwangyang Central Library was selected as the executing institution for the 2023 project and has been running the program titled ‘Reading Reader, Leader’ since May.
The first program, themed ‘Meeting Leaders Who Moved Korea,’ featured a lecture by Kwon Young-min, director of the Future Humanities Research Institute. Through leaders in Korean history such as King Jeongjo, Dasan, and Shin Yun-bok, he conveyed attitudes toward life and lessons, concluding the three-week course with great enthusiasm.
A participant in the program said, “It was beneficial and enjoyable to listen to a humanities lecture on the theme of leaders,” adding, “I especially look forward to the exploration related to the first theme.”
Meanwhile, Gwangyang Central Library’s ‘Humanities on the Road’ will continue operating programs with themes such as ▲Meeting Leaders Who Changed the World ▲The Era of 탈(脫) Leaders, Qualifications of Leaders until July. The program plans to conduct explorations to learn about the life and insights of Jeong Yak-yong by visiting Dasan Chodang and Dasan Museum in Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do.
