The Citizen Safety Culture University has been operating since 2014 to cultivate citizens' safety awareness and train leaders of local safety culture movements by providing citizens with safety culture knowledge and safety experience opportunities. Over eight terms, it has produced about 1,026 students.
The 9th term of the Citizen Safety Culture University will be held for about 100 applicants who registered by the 2nd, running from the 7th to July 26th. Classes will take place every Wednesday from 2 PM to 4 PM over eight weeks at the Olympic Memorial National Living Center auditorium in Yangdeok-dong, Masanhwoewon-gu.
The main curriculum includes disaster and safety accident prevention and response education by professors and experts, such as 'First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training,' 'Disaster Survival Methods,' and 'Safety in Daily Leisure Activities.' It also features special lectures like 'The Future and Safety of Changwon's Nuclear Industry,' 'Radiation, Cancer, and Fear,' and 'Prevention of Abuse of Harmful Drugs (Narcotics).'
Ha Jongmok, the 1st Deputy Mayor, stated, "Due to the diversified social structure and climate change, the frequency and scale of disasters are rapidly increasing, and predicting disasters is becoming increasingly difficult. However, the more we learn and practice safety, the safer we can become." He added, "I ask that you spread the positive influence of the safety knowledge and mindset learned here throughout our society."
