Gyeonggawon and 13 Organizations Including the National Arboretum Sign MOU to Promote Green Bio Activation

The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency has signed a business agreement with 13 organizations, including the National Arboretum, to promote the Green Bio industry.

On the 7th, the agency announced that it signed a business agreement with 13 organizations, including the National Arboretum, DMZ Ecology Research Institute, DMZ Peace Life Hill, DMZ Peace Network, DMZ Museum, Yanggu DMZ Ecotourism Association, Kangwon National University DMZ HELP Center, Green Federation, Korea Mountain Conservation Association, Kangwon Research Institute, Yeoncheon County, Inje County, and Yanggu County, to conserve and cooperate on biodiversity resources in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

According to the agreement, each organization will collaborate on ▲joint construction of biodiversity resources and related data in the DMZ area ▲research, utilization, education, and exhibition related to DMZ biodiversity resources ▲joint use of related facilities ▲exchange of professional human resources and operation of educational programs ▲and other matters related to the development and promotion of friendly relations among cooperating organizations.

The agency expects that through this agreement, Green Bio-related companies in the province will be able to reduce their dependence on overseas biological resources and secure raw materials that can be substituted with domestic biological resources using DMZ biological resource information.

Kang Sung-cheon, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, emphasized, "The importance of domestic biodiversity conservation research is being highlighted due to climate change and the enforcement of the Nagoya Protocol." He added, "Through this agreement, we plan to establish sustainable DMZ development policies and build a material database that can be utilized by bio and pharmaceutical companies, continuously supporting the commercialization of materials for cosmetics and food and drug products."
