"Lee Jae-myung Probably Didn't Find a Problem Even After Reading Lee Raekyung's Post"
Kim Jong-min, a non-mainstream member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, saying that Lee seems to think "innovation means moving towards a fandom support base."
On the 7th, Kim said on SBS's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' "(This is) the path that Hwang Kyo-ahn's United Future Party took. But Lee Jae-myung should not follow Hwang Kyo-ahn's path," he said.
The Democratic Party appointed Lee Yi-kyung, director of Another Hundred Years, as the head of the Innovation Committee on the 5th, but controversy arose when it was revealed that he had previously claimed theories such as the 'Cheonan ship self-destruction theory' and 'COVID-19 originated in the U.S.' Ultimately, Lee resigned, but the party leader's leadership was also damaged.
Kim said, "Looking at the current appointment of the Innovation Committee head, it seems that innovation is being understood as strengthening the direction of Lee Jae-myung's Democratic Party over the past year, and the fandom support base that supports Lee Jae-myung and the party leader," adding, "But if this continues, while support from the hardcore base may be strengthened, it will be difficult to expect support from the general public, the moderate camp, and a broader range of citizens."
Regarding whether Lee Jae-myung was aware of the problematic posts by Lee Yi-kyung in advance, he said, "Even if he saw those posts, it is highly likely that he did not recognize the problem," adding, "Because the reason this person was recommended was probably with the intention that stronger reforms are needed, and innovation should be strengthened in that direction. So, he might have thought that the things this person said were actually necessary for the Democratic Party."
Kim added, "He might not have seen the detailed content such as the Cheonan ship self-destruction theory," but said, "Strong reform alone is not always the answer, but perhaps he judged that a strong reformist will was necessary for the Democratic Party, so he appointed this person. From that perspective, even if he read this person's posts, he might not have felt that they were problematic."
Kim particularly focused on the fact that Lee Yi-kyung is a 'pro-Lee Jae-myung' figure. He said, "Many lawmakers, including myself, take this issue seriously not only because of the problematic statements like the Cheonan ship self-destruction theory but more fundamentally because a pro-Lee Jae-myung figure, and among them someone with very strong support for Lee Jae-myung, was appointed as the head of the Innovation Committee," adding, "It seems there is a strong intention to further strengthen Lee Jae-myung's Democratic Party as it currently stands."
He said, "Over the past year, the party has run as Lee Jae-myung's Democratic Party, but it has been criticized as a 'lost but fought well' (Jjeotjalsa) party without reflection. It is called a bulletproof party with collapsed morality and ethical standards, and a fandom party that ignores public sentiment," and raised his voice, saying, "To solve this problem, it must not be Lee Jae-myung's Democratic Party but the people's Democratic Party."
