Busan City will hold the ‘Busan-Urban Air Mobility (B-UAM) Commercialization Vision and Service Strategy Forum’ on the 9th at 10 a.m. in the 3rd Seminar Room of the National Assembly Members’ Office Building. The forum aims to present service strategies utilizing Busan’s marine environmental advantages and to lead the successful commercialization of Korean-style Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM).

Busan City Holds 'Busan-Urban Air Mobility Commercialization Vision and Service Strategy Forum' ‘Busan-Urban Air Mobility (B-UAM) Commercialization Vision and Service Strategy Forum’ web poster.

This event is hosted by National Assembly member Jeong Dong-man (Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee) and organized by Busan City and Busan Technopark, with about 60 participants from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, related organizations, and private companies expected to attend.

At the forum, preparations for the initial commercialization of Busan’s Urban Air Mobility (UAM) will be shared, and service models for urban air mobility in logistics and tourism will be proposed by leveraging infrastructure such as the new airport, ports, and railways, as well as the city’s exceptional maritime environment.

Busan has large-scale leisure, shopping, and recreational facilities concentrated in Haeundae and Osiria Tourist Complex, and developments such as Busan Port and Gaduk New Airport are planned, making it possible to establish optimal coastal routes for Urban Air Mobility (UAM).

Experts analyze that this environment enables the most optimized UAM business in terms of demand and commercial viability. Urban planning projects are already underway, including the construction of Gaduk New Airport considering UAM vertiports, redevelopment of Bukhang, and the creation of Eco Delta Smart City.

In particular, the ‘dedicated sky corridors for Urban Air Mobility (UAM)’ designed along the coast can themselves generate high added value as tourism products. Additionally, demand from the South Coast area connecting Gyeongnam and Jeonnam and from the East Coast area connecting Ulsan and Gangwon will be absorbed, positioning Busan as a genuine hub for Urban Air Mobility (UAM).

At this forum, based on Busan’s geographical and environmental advantages, Professor Kim Young-rok from Silla University, Deputy General Manager Kim Young-in from Korea Land & Housing Corporation, Senior Researcher Woo Seok-bong from Busan Research Institute, and Director Kim Min-seon from Kakao Mobility will deliver keynote presentations.

Following this, an expert discussion involving the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Busan City, Korea Aerospace University, Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Busan Port Authority, LGU+, and GS Construction will explore successful service strategies for Busan-Urban Air Mobility (B-UAM).

Jeong Dong-man, the forum’s host and National Assembly member, stated, “Busan is a city specialized in tourism, exhibition complex industries, and logistics, and as Korea’s second-largest city, it has secured optimal demand and environment for the smooth introduction of Urban Air Mobility (UAM). Through this forum, I hope various UAM services will be realized in Busan, and furthermore, the successful commercialization of Korean-style Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM) will be achieved here.”

Shin Chang-ho, Director of the Digital Economy Innovation Office of Busan City, said, “Last July, Busan signed a consortium agreement for the commercialization of Busan-Urban Air Mobility (B-UAM) with LGU+, Kakao Mobility, GS Construction, and others, and is conducting various commercialization studies based on demand. We will do our best to be selected as a target site for the UAM regional pilot project promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and we look forward to the successful market creation of Korean-style Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM) in Busan.”
