According to local media such as Shangyu News on the 6th (local time), on the 1st, a student at a vocational college in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, claimed, "A foreign object that looks like a rat's head was found in the food served at the school cafeteria," and posted a related video.

The student immediately protested to the kitchen cook, but he insisted it was 'duck meat.' The student posted the video online and formally raised the issue with the school.

As the controversy spread, the Nanchang Municipal Market Supervision Administration stepped in to investigate, but also concluded it was 'duck meat.' Officials from the Market Supervision Administration repeatedly stated in interviews with the media, "After analyzing the video and inspecting the site, it was definitely a duck's neck." Even the reporting student later changed their statement, saying they had misunderstood.

However, local netizens who viewed the video responded with disbelief. They commented, "Anyone can see it's a rat," "I don't understand why they insist otherwise," and "Ducks and rats look completely different, and the animal in the video is a rat."

An expert who has studied rodents for over 30 years told local media, "If the video is not manipulated, it is indeed a rat's head," adding, "If it were a duck's neck, there would be no tooth-like structures."

As the problematic video spread, the school eventually stated, "It has been confirmed that the foreign object is not a foreign substance but a normal food item made from a duck's neck. The student who posted the video accepted this explanation, submitted a statement, and deleted the related video."

In response, Chinese netizens have raised their voices in criticism, calling it a modern version of 'Jirokwi-ma.' 'Jirokwi-ma' is an expression meaning 'calling a deer a horse,' metaphorically referring to changing right and wrong to deceive others. Politically, it implies manipulating superiors to wield power.
