LG CNS is partnering with Honeywell in the United States to significantly enhance the production efficiency and security of smart factories.
LG CNS and Honeywell announced on the 7th that they recently signed a business agreement to strengthen competitiveness in the smart factory business. Through this agreement, the two companies will collaborate to ▲expand cooperation in building smart factories domestically and internationally ▲strengthen OT (Operating Technology) security that monitors production processes in real time and remotely controls equipment. Honeywell operates in four major business areas: ▲factory automation ▲aerospace ▲building control ▲production solutions.
LG CNS and Honeywell will combine their proven smart factory platforms and solutions into a package to offer to enterprises. To this end, LG CNS’s ‘Factoba’ platform, which incorporates over 20 years of smart factory construction know-how from LG affiliates, will be combined with Honeywell’s process control solutions such as the ‘Production Optimization Solution,’ which creates optimal production processes based on historical data, and the ‘DCS (Distributed Control System),’ which allows real-time monitoring and control of equipment operation, providing a total smart factory solution.
They will also establish an ‘Integrated Security Monitoring System’ for smart factories. Through this integrated monitoring system, customers can oversee cyber threat situations across all factories equipped with automated facilities at a glance and preemptively block data leaks. This system is linked with AI-based threat detection technology and MDR (Managed Detection Response) services. This enables customers to detect emergencies such as gas leaks or fires within factories, preventing accidents before they occur and responding swiftly.
Meanwhile, LG CNS is strengthening its smart factory business competitiveness in various ways, including developing a ‘Smart Factory Predictive Maintenance Solution’ based on a 5G specialized network in collaboration with Kyung Hee University. Predictive maintenance is a solution that monitors equipment status to predict abnormal signs and perform maintenance accordingly.
LG CNS is also advancing the ‘Virtual Factory,’ the highest level of smart factory, in partnership with Unity, a global top 3D platform company. A Virtual Factory is a factory that replicates an actual factory identically in a virtual environment. It allows monitoring of the real factory and full control over the entire production process of the actual factory.
Jin-gyu Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of LG CNS Smart Factory Division, emphasized, “Through this collaboration, we will enhance joint offerings and expand smart factory construction projects not only in Korea but also in overseas markets such as the United States.”
