Understanding the Resident Participatory Budgeting System and Promoting Community Participation

Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) held the 2023 Youth Resident Participation Budget School on the 2nd for youth resident participation budget committee members to promote understanding of the resident participation budget system and encourage community involvement among young people.

According to the county on the 6th, this resident participation budget school was conducted for 15 members of the Shinan-gun Youth Participation Committee and covered topics such as △Shinan-gun budget status △resident participation budget system △functions and roles of the youth participation committee.

Starting this year, the county plans to operate the youth resident participation budget system, where youth can apply for necessary projects, prioritize them, and have the selected projects by the review committee reflected in next year’s budget. This aims to enhance youth understanding of the budget and provide various opportunities for participation.

Governor Park Woo-ryang stated, “We will continuously gather diverse opinions from youth through the youth resident participation budget system and expand opportunities for youth to participate in the community. We will also promote various projects to increase interest in the region so that youth can grow into adults who think of Shinan-gun.”
