Since 2020, BGF Welfare Foundation has supported a total of 13,500 meals for about 200 children from 140 households. This year, 100 vulnerable children were selected based on recommendations from professionals at educational welfare hub schools in Gangseo-gu, Yangcheon-gu, Gwanak-gu, and Dongjak-gu, Seoul. The foundation will support meal expenses equivalent to 6,400 meals until the end of the year.
The children selected for the program are elementary and middle school students from low-income families, single-parent families, and grandparent-headed households who are in blind spots of support and are at risk of missing meals, thus requiring urgent assistance. The support method provides 9,000 KRW per meal for two meals over the weekend, delivered weekly as CU points. The children can use these points to choose and enjoy their preferred meals at nearby CU convenience stores.
Yang Kyung-hee, Director of BGF Welfare Foundation, said, “We will continue to show warm affection and interest in children and do our best to protect the future of children in need of social protection.”
