Gwangjin-gu Adds More CCTV Cameras to Illegal Parking Zones in School Safety Areas

Additional Unmanned Enforcement Cameras Installed in 6 High-Complaint Children's Protection Zones

Efficiency Enhanced by Utilizing Multipurpose Cameras with Enforcement Functions Supplementing Existing Security CCTVs

Expected to Prevent Child Safety Accidents Caused by Illegal Parking and Alleviate Resident Inconvenience

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will install additional illegal parking enforcement CCTVs to enhance children's traffic safety.

The district initiated this project to intensively crack down on illegal parking, a major cause of children's traffic accidents. Unmanned enforcement cameras operating for 12 hours from 8 a.m. will be additionally installed to create a safer walking environment.

The installation sites are six children's protection zones near elementary and middle schools. Among the 21 children's protection zones around school routes in the area, those with the highest number of illegal parking complaints were selected as target locations. Within this month, additional CCTVs will be installed around ▲Gwangjin Elementary ▲Shinja Elementary ▲Yangjin Elementary ▲Junggwang Elementary (front and back gates) ▲Jayang Middle School areas.

A notable feature is the cost reduction achieved by adding illegal parking enforcement functions to existing security CCTVs. Although the original budget was for installing two new cameras, efficiency was improved by supplementing already established cameras for multipurpose use. Through this effort, the number of CCTV installations was increased to prevent traffic accidents in more areas.

In this regard, the district is collecting residents' opinions until the 12th. Those with opinions on the CCTV installation can submit a written opinion to the Traffic Guidance Division. Enforcement of illegal parking is scheduled to begin in July.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “We have decided to additionally install CCTVs in children's protection zones to actively enforce illegal parking that hinders traffic safety. We will do our best to create a safe street environment where both children and parents can feel secure.”

Currently, a total of 62 illegal parking enforcement CCTVs are operating in Gwangjin-gu. By July, 11 more will be installed to build an even denser safety network.
