Hotel Rooftop as a Beekeeping Farm?..."Enjoy Desserts Made with Freshly Harvested Honey"

DoubleTree Pangyo 'Urban Beekeeping' Project
Aiming to Preserve Honeybees and Deliver Social Value
Offering Various Menus Using Cultivated Honey

Passing through the pristine interior of the newly constructed building and arriving at the highest floor, you will see a small door. Opening this door reveals a secret space accompanied by a buzzing sound. This is the "urban beekeeping farm," operated for the first time in the hotel industry by DoubleTree by Hilton Pangyo.

At around 3 p.m. on the 2nd, the DoubleTree Pangyo rooftop beekeeping farm looked like a well-designed sky garden. Colorful grand and sunflower sculptures and ten beehives painted bright yellow were placed in a well-lit area, with hundreds of bees clinging to the entrances storing honey. It takes about three weeks to fill one beehive, and when all ten are full, approximately 100 to 120 kg of honey can be harvested.

General Manager Pita Reuter introduced, "Bees are the superheroes of the Earth," adding, "The beekeeping project was planned to provide a comfortable sanctuary for bees, which are essential to the Earth's ecosystem, and to exert a positive influence on the environment." Park Jin, CEO of Urban Biz Seoul, who is in charge of the overall operation and consulting of the DoubleTree beekeeping farm, said, "Bees are not scary creatures but essential to our ecosystem," and expressed hope that the beekeeping project would deliver warm value to society.

The honey harvested in this way is offered to customers in a variety of menus. At Demeter, the DoubleTree all-day dining restaurant, you can enjoy five bee-themed menu items such as honey cheesecake, honey milk panna cotta, and honey pancakes. At the rooftop bar Nix, you can taste the "Be My Honey" afternoon tea set and signature cocktails. The My Honey afternoon tea set was decorated with cute honeybee characters featuring honeybee macarons and honey lemon mousse, providing as much visual enjoyment as its sweet taste. The soft texture and sweet honey aroma were exquisite.

General Manager Pita Reuter said, "Various dessert menus made with honey harvested directly have already received positive responses from customers," and added, "Going forward, DoubleTree will continue to strive to deliver sweet value like freshly harvested honey not only to guests visiting our hotel but also to the local community."
