Ottogi announced on the 5th that it will launch ‘Chamkkae Ramen Bokkeummyeon,’ a spicy yet savory stir-fried noodle with the roasted sesame oil aroma, by stir-frying its representative steady-seller Chamkkae Ramen and offering it as a cup noodle.
First released as a bagged ramen in November 1994, Chamkkae Ramen has a loyal fan base and is especially popular among people in their teens and twenties due to the softness of the egg and the unique savory taste of sesame seeds. Ottogi explained that considering the recent increase in consumers enjoying Chamkkae Ramen in a stir-fried style, they developed this product so it can be enjoyed more conveniently without separate cooking.
The new product, Chamkkae Ramen Bokkeummyeon, features the brand’s unique characteristics, including the sesame egg block and the spicy sesame oil powder soup, exactly as in the original Chamkkae Ramen. This is because consumers have positively evaluated that the presence of sesame oil powder soup in Chamkkae Ramen enhances the taste when cooked stir-fried. Additionally, Ottogi utilized ‘sesame cake,’ a byproduct from the process of extracting Ottogi sesame oil, through food upcycling to create noodles that are more savory and nutritious.
Chamkae Ramen Bokkeummyeon will be pre-launched through Naver Shopping Live, with various events such as goods giveaways planned.
