Fountain and Artificial Waterfall 'Water' Management Begins... Ulsan Health and Environment Institute Conducts Water Quality Inspection of Water Play-Type Hydro Facilities

Four Items Including pH Every 15 Days Until September

Water Play Season, Ensure the Water Quality of Fountains and Artificial Waterfalls!

The Ulsan Health and Environment Research Institute has begun water quality safety inspections of water play-type water facilities from June to September in preparation for the summer season.

Water play-type water facilities refer to artificial structures such as fountains and waterfalls that are open to the public for water play.

In Ulsan, there are 49 such locations. Although almost all water facilities were shut down until last year due to the COVID-19 outbreak, most are expected to resume operation this year.

According to the Water Environment Conservation Act, the Ulsan Health and Environment Research Institute plans to conduct water quality tests at least once every 15 days during the facility operation period, targeting four items: pH, turbidity, Escherichia coli, and free residual chlorine.

If the test results do not meet the water quality standards, the facility operator will be instructed to immediately stop the facility operation. After disinfection, cleaning, or water replacement measures, a retest will be conducted, and if the water quality standards are met, the facility will be requested to resume operation.

An institute official stated, “We will do our best to ensure water quality safety so that citizens exhausted by COVID-19 can enjoy water play in clean and safe facilities,” and added, “Facility operators must strictly adhere to safe water management of water facilities, including cleaning storage tanks, operating filters, and chlorine disinfection.”
