Gangnam-gu to Hold Oral Health Day Festival at Public Health Center Parking Lot on 8th and 9th
Free Dental Checkups by Dentists, Bacteria Observation through Microscope, Toothbrush Holder Making, and Various Other Experiences
Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the 78th Oral Health Day Festival for residents and workers at the public health center parking lot from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 8th and 9th.
To raise understanding and interest in oral health, the Oral Health Act designates June 9th every year as "Oral Health Day." Under the slogan "Healthier Smiles Revisited, Oral Care Together," the district has prepared oral examinations, education, and various experiential programs.
At this event, dentists will provide free checkups and consultations. Additionally, a Q-scan will be used to examine dental plaque (bacterial clusters on the tooth surface), and participants can observe the bacteria on their teeth through a phase-contrast microscope to visually check their dental health status.
Furthermore, easy and fun oral education and promotional campaigns will be conducted. There will be initial consonant games and OX quizzes where participants can learn about previously puzzling dental knowledge and how to use oral care products. Those who answer the quizzes correctly can also participate in a nostalgic lottery with no blanks, adding fun to the education.
Other experiential programs include ▲toothbrush holder making ▲xylitol candy making ▲creating a personalized correct tooth care TO DO LIST ▲decorating your own teeth ▲Chika Chika tooth brushing game ▲tooth character photo zone, designed to make oral health easily accessible. Toothbrush holder making on the 8th and xylitol candy making on the 9th require prior reservation through the public health center.
Residents can receive oral care support through the public health center. The center promotes various projects such as ▲fluoride application for children and the elderly ▲dental care for children and students ▲dental sealants and scaling for the elderly and vulnerable groups ▲denture support for people with disabilities.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “Since healthy teeth lead to a healthy life in the era of 100-year lifespans, we want to raise awareness of the importance of oral health through this event,” and added, “We will continue to support residents, including children, the elderly, and vulnerable groups, so they can maintain healthy teeth.”
