Exchange Agreement Signed During India Visit 10 Days Ago

Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, expressed his condolences via SNS regarding the triple train collision disaster that occurred in India on the 2nd local time, and wished for the early resolution of the accident.

In a post on Facebook on the 4th, Governor Lee said, “I recently visited India and engaged in human exchange activities such as sisterhood agreements with UP State and special lectures at Delhi University. It is deeply saddening to hear the news that many victims occurred in the train accident a few days ago,” and offered his prayers for the deceased.

Governor Lee stated, “The aspirations of university students toward Korea are vivid in my mind, and the local government of India hopes to exchange with our province,” adding, “As India is the most populous country in the world, let us all unite our efforts to support the resolution of the train accident so that Gyeongbuk Province’s dedication to securing international students and labor force is well conveyed.”

Governor Lee visited India on the 22nd of last month and met with Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of UP State, to sign a mutual exchange agreement concerning support for outstanding students studying in Gyeongbuk and support for employment of excellent personnel in Gyeongbuk.

On the 23rd of last month, he gave a special lecture in English directly to local university students at Delhi University and held an explanatory session for attracting international students.

He then visited Nehru University and Subharti University to discuss support plans for Korean language education. Marking the 50th anniversary of Korea-India diplomatic relations, he is striving to expand exchanges and attract Indian university students known for their talent to strengthen regional competitiveness.
