Two Missing While Clamming Found on Incheon Muui Island... Unconscious

Two people who went missing while doing haerujil (a fishing method using light to catch shellfish at night on mudflats) at the mudflats of Muui-do, Incheon, were found by the coast guard but were unconscious.

According to the Incheon Coast Guard on the 4th, around 12 p.m. that day, a woman in her 40s, Ms. A, who went missing in the sea near Hanagae Beach on Muui-do, Jung-gu, Incheon, and a man, Mr. B, whose identity has not been confirmed, were found by the coast guard during a search.

Both were unconscious and not breathing and were transported to the hospital.

Earlier that day, around midnight, a report was received that three people, including Ms. A, were trapped near Hanagae Beach, and rescue operations were launched, with Ms. C (65, female) being rescued first. At that time, Ms. C was in a condition not life-threatening and was handed over to her guardian.

Investigations revealed that they were members of a club who entered the mudflats to do haerujil and were trapped by suddenly rising seawater.

The coast guard is investigating the exact identity of Mr. B and the precise circumstances of the accident.
