It was held together with the 28th Environment Day event, adding to its significance.
Kyungwoon University was designated as the operating institution through a public contest and evaluation in March and will carry out the duties of the Gumi City Carbon Neutral Support Center until December 31, 2026.
Specific tasks include promoting a bottom-up transition to a carbon-neutral society led by the local community, such as ▲promoting energy transition and developing and spreading transition models ▲supporting the establishment and implementation of climate crisis adaptation measures ▲discovering ways to enhance participation in and awareness of carbon neutrality ▲conducting local carbon neutrality-related surveys, research, education, and publicity ▲and other projects to strengthen Gumi City's carbon neutrality policy implementation capabilities.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “Feeling the urgency of the climate crisis and greenhouse gas reduction, we will actively develop and implement various policies centered on the center to reduce greenhouse gases and transition to a carbon-neutral society.”
