June Promotion and Guidance Activities
Enforcement and Patrol in July-August
Busan City will conduct a special crackdown on "summer (rainy season) public water pollution acts" targeting facilities that discharge environmental pollutants until August.
This special crackdown is being carried out to prevent the occurrence of summer (rainy season) algal blooms and pollution in public waters caused by illegal environmental pollution acts such as unauthorized discharge of environmental pollutants.
The special crackdown will be implemented in phases. ▲In June, the special crackdown details will be posted on websites, and cooperation letters for voluntary inspections will be sent to facilities discharging environmental pollutants, focusing on publicity and guidance activities.
▲From July to August, intensive inspections and patrols will be conducted targeting areas at risk of pollutant leakage due to heavy rains and rising river water levels, facilities with high impact on water pollution such as malicious wastewater dischargers and wastewater treatment companies, and areas where water source pollution is a concern.
The main inspection items include ▲whether unauthorized (unreported) environmental pollutant discharge facilities are installed or operated ▲whether water pollution prevention facilities are operating normally ▲compliance with water pollutant discharge standards ▲and other violations of environmental laws.
Additionally, the city plans to link small businesses vulnerable to environmental pollutant treatment with technical support from the Busan Green Environment Support Center by accepting applications in parallel with this special crackdown.
Hong Soo-im, Director of the Environmental Policy Division, stated, "Clean water and air, and precious natural environments are temporarily borrowed from future generations, so pollution acts that damage these environments must be eradicated." She added, "We ask all citizens to report any such acts by referring to the environmental pollution reporting guidelines and notifying via the toll-free number 128, the National Sinmungo, or the Safety Sinmungo reporting apps."
