Busan City and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency have selected 15 companies as the ‘2023 Excellent Employment Companies’ for their efforts in job creation despite the challenging economic conditions of high interest rates and high inflation.
The ‘Busan City Excellent Employment Companies’ program has been implemented since 2010 to encourage companies to expand employment and to spread a social atmosphere of job creation. As of this year, a total of 276 companies have been selected cumulatively.
The application criteria require companies in all industries, including manufacturing and services, to have their headquarters or main business site located in Busan and to have been operating normally for more than three years. As of the end of 2022, the increase in the number of regular employees over the past three years must be ▲20 or more for companies with 300 or more employees ▲15 or more for companies with 100 to fewer than 300 employees ▲10 or more for companies with fewer than 100 employees.
In the call for applications held last February, 84 companies applied. The city conducted document screening and on-site evaluations, and on May 17, the selection committee finalized the selection of 15 companies.
By company size, the selected companies are ▲2 companies with 300 or more employees: Otonics (CEO Park Yong-jin), Dongsung Motors (CEO Seok Sang-woo) ▲4 companies with 100 to fewer than 300 employees: GC (CEO Lee Sang-gil), Foodpang (CEO Gong Kyung-yul), Hanseon Engineering (CEO Lee Je-hoon), GM Networks (CEO Lee Hyun-chan) ▲9 companies with fewer than 100 employees: Busan Container Terminal (CEO Lee Sang-sik), Dongyeon SNT (CEO Kim Moon-seop), ND Soft (CEO Park Nam-do), DK E&C (CEO Yoon Jung-mi), Atom Trading (CEO Yoon Sung-woong), Moosma (CEO Shin Sung-il), CA Lab (CEO Lee Seung-wook), Nieder (CEO Shin Hyun-sik), Real Coco Global (CEO Kim Jung-hoon).
By industry, 4 companies are in manufacturing and 11 companies are in non-manufacturing sectors such as services.
The Excellent Employment Companies receive various benefits including ▲certificates and certification plaques ▲40 million KRW support fund for improving working conditions ▲exemption from acquisition tax on newly acquired business real estate ▲postponement of local tax audits.
The certificate awarding ceremony for the selected Excellent Employment Companies is scheduled to be held at the end of June.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you for your efforts in job creation and employment maintenance despite the difficult economic situation.” He added, “We will continue to support companies that contribute to regional economic development by creating quality jobs so that they can grow and develop further.”
