A man in his 50s who administered drugs by mixing them into a gel and injecting them into his body was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
According to the legal community on the 4th, Judge Kang Young-gi of the Criminal Division 9 at the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Ahn (53, male), who was charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act, to one year in prison with a two-year suspension on the 3rd of last month. The court explained the sentencing by stating, "Narcotics crimes are difficult to detect, have a high risk of recidivism, and cause significant harm not only to individuals but also to society as a whole," but added, "The defendant is a first-time offender with no prior criminal record and has shown remorse by acknowledging his wrongdoing."
Ahn is accused of purchasing 1.5 grams of methamphetamine from a drug dealer he met through a dating application on February 24. After transferring 1.1 million won to the dealer's account, he used the so-called 'throwing method' to retrieve the methamphetamine that was attached to a flower bed in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The drug administration took place a week later. On March 3 at around 2:30 p.m., Ahn administered approximately 0.1 grams of methamphetamine mixed into a gel by injecting it anally at a hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. It was confirmed that the remaining 1.4 grams of methamphetamine were divided and stored in 14 disposable syringes.
