7 Recipients of the Seongbuk District Mayor's Commendation for Filial Piety

The Seongbuk-gu Filial Piety Culture Practice Council (Chairman Sim Il-seon) held the ‘Seongbuk-gu Filial Piety Culture Practice Council Seniors Filial Piety Feast’ on the 30th of last month to honor the hard work of local seniors.

Established in October 2010, the Seongbuk-gu Filial Piety Culture Practice Council (Chairman Sim Il-seon) has held the filial piety feast annually since 2011. Taking advantage of the lifting of social distancing measures, the event invited about 250 local seniors, marking the first gathering in four years. The event featured lively performances and a souvenir presentation ceremony to encourage a vibrant later life.

At the event, seven meritorious filial piety recipients who have served as role models in the community were selected and awarded commendations from the district mayor. It was an occasion to honor filial devotion and reflect on the true meaning of filial piety.

Chairman Sim Il-seon, who hosted the event, said, “Due to social distancing, we were unable to hold the filial piety feast for four years, so it is deeply moving to welcome the seniors again like this. This year’s 10th filial piety feast is a meaningful event that raises awareness of filial piety in the community and contributes to the spread of a culture of sharing.”
