Gyeongbuk Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation will hold the musical "Jangsu Bath Fairy," based on the original work by Baek Hee-na, the "Nation's Top Celebrity" author whose family musical ranked number one in annual sales in 2022, on June 10.
Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation hosting "Jangsu Bathhouse Fairy," the No.1 ranked family musical, in Yeongdeok.
This is the second work in the Baek Hee-na series following the hugely popular musical "Al-satang."
The musical "Jangsu Bath Fairy" is based on Baek Hee-na's bestselling picture book "Jangsu Bath Fairy," who in 2020 became the first Korean to receive the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, known as the Nobel Prize of children's literature.
The stage setting replaces the familiar young and beautiful fairy from traditional fairy tales with a hundred-year-old grandmother suddenly appearing as a fairy, adding laughter and fun. The stage set also faithfully recreates the "old bathhouse" from the original picture book.
The moment Deokji opens the door to Jangsu Bath, a set resembling an actual bathhouse appears, including the changing room, cold bath, hot bath, and scrubbing bed, evoking nostalgia for the parent generation and opening a strange but fascinating magical world for the children.
The exciting cold bath play and mysterious adventures that unfold as Deokji meets the fairy grandmother are presented through video, lighting, and special effects, while lively and fantastic music enhances the warm emotions of the original work.

A Yeongdeok resident who booked tickets for the performance expressed excitement, saying, "I am very thrilled to be able to enjoy the legendary family musical 'Jangsu Bath Fairy,' which can usually only be seen in big cities, with my child at an affordable price."
The family musical "Jangsu Bath Fairy" is suitable for anyone aged 24 months and older. Ticket prices are 20,000 KRW for all seats, and 15,000 KRW for Yeongdeok residents. The running time is 60 minutes, and tickets can be booked on the Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation website.
