Hyundai Steel announced on the 2nd that it will conduct the step donation campaign "70cm Miracle, Moonshot Challenge" from the Steel Marathon event held on the 20th of last month until the company anniversary on the 10th.
This campaign was planned based on the idea that collecting more than 500 million steps, each about 70cm?the average adult stride length?would equal the distance to the moon, approximately 380,000 km. About 5,000 participants walking 5,000 steps daily for 22 days can achieve the cumulative distance goal of 380,000 km.
Hyundai Steel is expanding participation in the campaign not only among its employees but also to the general public by holding step donation-related events at the recent Steel Marathon venue to introduce the significance of the event and encourage participation.
When the step donation goal of 380,000 km (500 million steps) is achieved, Hyundai Steel plans to donate 100 million KRW to the Purme Foundation to support children with disabilities near its nationwide business sites. Last year, the company also conducted the "StepMore HeartMore" campaign, raising 50 million KRW to donate 22 customized mobility chairs for children with developmental disabilities.
A Hyundai Steel official said, "Starting as the first steel company in Korea and celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, Hyundai Steel has played a pivotal role in the national economy and has written a history of continuous challenges, including declaring a leap toward an eco-friendly steel company by achieving carbon neutrality. We expect that each 70cm stride of our employees will come together to successfully lead the step donation campaign."
