Gangnam-gu Mayor Jo Seong-myeong Appointed to Resident Participation Budget Committee

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) appointed 54 members of the Resident Participation Budget Committee at the district office on the 1st.

The Resident Participation Budget system allows residents to directly propose projects needed in the community and review and decide on the project budgets. The term of the committee members is two years, and the committee holds two general meetings annually to review and finalize projects proposed by residents.

Additionally, there are an operating committee and subcommittees that conduct mid-term reviews, on-site inspections, and monitoring of proposed projects.

The district is accepting proposals for resident participation budget projects totaling 2 billion KRW to be reflected in the 2024 budget until June 30. Any Gangnam-gu resident or worker can propose projects through general applications or by discovering projects via neighborhood meetings. After a mid-term review, the final review will be completed in September and incorporated into the budget plan. Last year, a total of 12 projects were approved, with a budget of 645 million KRW invested to carry out the projects. Detailed information about the Resident Participation Budget projects can be found on the district office website.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “The Resident Participation Budget is a meaningful system that encompasses all the elements that administration should pursue: resident participation, transparency in administrative procedures, and transparent financial management.” He added, “We will continue to strive to implement practical policies and manage the budget efficiently.”
