Accordingly, repair projects will be carried out for Hogyo Reservoir in Masan-myeon, Deoksong Reservoir in Sanim-myeon, and Sudong Reservoir in Hwawon-myeon.
The project focuses on raising embankments to prevent overflow during localized heavy rains and expanding spillways to create a safer farming environment.
For Hogyo Reservoir, dredging, reinstallation of drainage pipes, and grouting methods will be applied; Deoksong Reservoir will undergo dredging, grouting, reinstallation of drainage pipes, installation of water channels; and Sudong Reservoir will have access roads to the reservoir constructed, along with dredging and reinstallation of drainage pipes.
As the largest agricultural county in the nation, reservoirs in Haenam are essential facilities that supply agricultural water necessary for crop growth and help control flood volume through water retention during rainfall, aiding drainage.
Given the diverse roles of these facilities, continuous maintenance is especially important.
Haenam-gun conducts safety inspections quarterly on 296 reservoirs managed by the county. Reservoirs deemed in need of repair and reinforcement based on safety inspection results undergo detailed inspections, and repair and reinforcement projects are then promoted based on these results.
A county official stated, “We plan to continue identifying reservoirs that require repair and reinforcement and secure national funds continuously.”
Meanwhile, Haenam-gun secured special grants of 300 million KRW in 2018, 500 million KRW in 2020, 2.5 billion KRW in 2022, and this year secured 2.4 billion KRW to promote leakage reservoir repair projects.
