On the 1st, Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk announced that it will hold the "3rd Sunchang Gochujang Cup National Youth Baseball Tournament" from the 3rd to the 8th at seven venues including Paldeok Multipurpose Stadium.
The 3rd Sunchang Gochujang Cup National Youth Tournament is hosted by the Korea Youth Baseball Federation (President Lee Sang-geun) and sponsored by Jeollabuk-do and Sunchang-gun.
The competition format consists of a preliminary round in a full league format and a final round in a knockout tournament format, divided into four leagues by age group: Saessak League, Kkum Namu League, Youth League, and Junior League.
During the tournament period, it is expected that more than 2,000 players and parents will visit Sunchang, and to ensure a safe and successful event, a final inspection meeting was held on the 30th of last month chaired by Vice Governor Jeong Hwa-young to review the preparation status.
In addition, the Sports Marketing Team led the inspection of preparations in areas such as hygiene, traffic, and tourism. In particular, the Tourism Marketing Team plans to select attractive tourist spots in Sunchang during the tournament period and promote them through leaflets and other means.
Many visitors coming to Sunchang for this youth baseball tournament have already booked accommodations down to the myeon (township) level, and it is expected to bring tangible economic ripple effects to local small businesses such as restaurants, chicken shops, convenience stores, and bakeries in the area.
County Governor Choi Young-il expressed gratitude, saying, "I would like to thank President Lee Sang-geun of the Korea Youth Baseball Federation for holding the National Youth Baseball Tournament in Sunchang, the hometown of Gochujang," and added, "We will continue to actively attract nationwide sports events to revitalize the local economy."
