[One Day Walk] Majang Station Where You Can Feel the Market Atmosphere

The course introduced this time is Majang Station, where you can feel the atmosphere of the market. It is the route from Majang Station Exit 2 to Majang-dong Food Alley → Majang Livestock Market → Dumool Bridge → Yongdu Park. When you think of Majang-dong, you often think of the livestock market. Since the restoration of Cheonggyecheon in 2005, many beautiful walking paths have been created.

If you walk about 500 meters from Majang-dong Exit 2, you can see the Cheonggyecheon Ecological School, where you can learn about the seasonal flora and fauna of Cheonggyecheon and its history. Passing this place and walking another 200 meters, you will find Majang-dong Food Alley, which sells Korean beef grilled by different cuts. Because the merchants purchase meat from the wholesale market, the prices are cheap but the taste is good.

Next, enter the East Gate of the livestock market from the entrance of Majang-dong Food Alley. Majang Livestock Market handles most of the meat distribution in the metropolitan area. You can buy meat at prices 20-30% cheaper than retail prices, and many visitors come because you can get various special cuts that are hard to find in the neighborhood. When you exit the West Gate of the livestock market and enter the alley across the street, you will see the Cheonggyecheon Culture Center. It is a place exhibiting the culture and history of Cheonggyecheon.

The next destination is Dumool Bridge. The name comes from the fact that it was where Cheonggyecheon and its tributary, Jeongneungcheon, met in the past. The bridge has the shape of two semicircular arches meeting and becoming one. Dumool Bridge has been developed as a themed space and is well known as a great spot for taking photos. The final destination is Yongdu Park. It is a park created on top of a waste treatment facility installed under the neighborhood park site in Dongdaemun-gu. You can enjoy various outdoor activities such as resting, culture, and exercise.
