JinsLab, a molecular diagnostics specialized subsidiary of GC (Green Cross Holdings), announced on the 1st that it has been selected as the principal research and development institution for two national projects supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Pan-Government Medical Device Research and Development Project Group, and has completed the research agreement. Accordingly, JinsLab will conduct molecular diagnostics-related research over the next five years as the principal research institution for two national projects, receiving approximately 8.2 billion KRW in government funding.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy-supported research project is a market-driven K-Sensor technology development project funded for five years from this year to 2027. Through joint research with Dongguk University, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation, and Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, JinsLab will develop and commercialize optical sensor and electrical sensor technologies for molecular diagnostics. The Pan-Government Medical Device Research and Development Project is a three-year project supported from this year to 2025, in which JinsLab plans to conduct research on cytomegalovirus (CMV) diagnostic technology and commercialization applying new technologies selected as excellent research outcomes by POSTECH and the Catholic University of Korea College of Medicine.
JinsLab is a company specializing in the development and sales of enzymes and diagnostic products related to molecular diagnostics. Through these two government research projects, it plans to develop new diagnostic systems and CMV diagnostic products. The molecular diagnostic new technologies and new products obtained through the research will be further developed and clinically tested to promote future commercialization.
A JinsLab representative stated, “We were selected as the principal research institution for two projects by promoting this research and development to develop differentiated technologies,” and added, “Through these projects, we expect to achieve outstanding research outcomes among participating companies and institutions, including securing additional research and development (R&D) pipelines.”
