Expansion of Solar Power at Gyeonggi-do Northern Government Complex from 84.4Kw to 857.4Kw

Expansion of Solar Power at Gyeonggi-do Northern Government Complex from 84.4Kw to 857.4Kw Solar Power Installed at Gyeonggi-do Northern Government Complex

The Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office will expand its solar power generation facilities tenfold.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 1st that it plans to increase the solar power generation capacity at the Northern Office from the current 84.4 kW to 857.4 kW, more than ten times the current scale.

The annual electricity production will also increase from 106 MWh to 1,077 MWh, which accounts for 34.4% of the Northern Office's annual electricity consumption of 3,128 MWh.

To achieve this, an additional 773 kW of solar power generation facilities will be installed at five locations: the annex and the rooftop of the Health and Environment Research Institute, the electric vehicle and bio parking lots, and the corridor between the main building and the annex.

Among the additional facilities, 442 kW will be self-installed, and the rest will be implemented by leasing the solar power plant sites to a social cooperative.

The solar power plant project allows local residents to participate and share investment profits.

Oh Hu-seok, Deputy Governor for Administration 2 of the province, emphasized, "The additional installation of solar power generation facilities is an important strategy to achieve Governor Kim Dong-yeon's Gyeonggi RE100 vision, turning the unavoidable issue of climate change into an opportunity," adding, "We will continue to strive for energy innovation and environmentally sustainable development."
