A man in his 50s was booked for causing a fatal traffic accident by suddenly stopping his vehicle at a highway exit.
The Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station announced on the 1st that they have booked A (in his 50s), an SUV driver, on charges of causing death under the Special Act on the Treatment of Traffic Accidents.
A is suspected of abruptly stopping his SUV around 2:35 p.m. the previous day on the exit ramp of Honam Expressway Sanwol Interchange (toward Suwan District), causing a fatal traffic accident.
Because A stopped his vehicle, B (70), a driver of a 1-ton truck following behind, collided with the rear of A’s vehicle.
A reportedly told the police that he was on a phone call at the time of the accident and did not realize the car had stopped. Investigations showed that he was neither intoxicated nor driving without a license.
The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
