Hyundai Department Store Hosts Eco-Friendly Event with Customer Participation to Commemorate Environment Day

Until the 18th at 16 stores including Apgujeong Main Branch
Events such as Upcycle Popup and Green VIP Challenge

Hyundai Department Store announced on the 1st that it will hold an eco-friendly themed event, "Urban Refresh with Green Friends," in celebration of Environment Day (June 5) at 16 stores including the Apgujeong Main Store until the 18th.

This themed event is composed of experiential programs where customers can practice eco-friendly values together at each store. From the 2nd to the 8th, the "Upcycle Universe" will be held at the large event hall on B1 of The Hyundai Seoul. More than 20 brands including Anakia, Overlap, Loe, and Realbrick will participate, showcasing various content from upcycled art exhibitions to hands-on experiences and sales of repurposed products. Customers can participate in upcycling activities such as making card wallets from waste paper or creating whale tail keyrings from wetsuits.


At the Pangyo Store, an eco-friendly popup store by the plant edit shop "Garden Earth" will operate from the 16th to the 18th. The first 400 customers who bring discarded plastic cups will be offered an upcycling gardening service where they can plant eco-friendly plants. Various goods such as flower circulation kits and seed growing kits will also be sold.


Hyundai Department Store will also conduct various online and offline events that customers can easily participate in to encourage a culture of eco-friendly living. On the H Point application, Hyundai Department Store Group’s integrated membership app, the eco-friendly ability test "Green Friends Quiz" will be held from the 1st to the 18th. In the first stage, customers who answer at least 8 out of 10 basic questions correctly will qualify to take the advanced test in the second stage. Customers who score 90 or above on the advanced test will be entered into a draw where five winners will receive "The Hyundai Travel Gift Certificate worth 1 million KRW." Participation is allowed once per day.


From the 9th to the 25th, the "Green VIP Challenge" will be held for Hyundai Department Store Card members at all stores. Customers who complete and verify participation in at least 4 out of 9 practice items, such as receiving electronic receipts at the department store and using personal tumblers at Cafe H, will receive "Green" grade benefits for three months (July to September).


Yang Myung-seong, Executive Director of Sales Strategy at Hyundai Department Store, said, "We have prepared various contents where customers can think about the environment and participate enjoyably at the department store," adding, "We will continue to take the lead in practicing carbon neutrality in daily life together with customers through eco-friendly policies and services."
