Jo Eung-cheon "Kim Nam-guk Should Resign Voluntarily... Unlikely to Do So Based on Attitude"

Regarding Kim Nam-guk, a member of the Democratic Party who left the party amid suspicions of cryptocurrency worth billions, disappeared for 17 days, and then returned, Democratic Party lawmaker Cho Eung-cheon pointed out that "he should voluntarily resign."

On the 1st, Cho said on KBS's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs,' "As a representative of the people, he has the duty to receive a salary and devote everything to prioritizing national interests. Isn't this against that? If so, I think it is right for him to resign voluntarily first," he said.

While the ruling party is raising voices to expel Kim through the Ethics Committee, opposition lawmakers such as Ahn Min-seok argue that "expulsion is not warranted." Cho said, "The most memorable thing is that he traded coins during committee hours. And he did it dozens of times a day. The amount is very large. Moreover, as an LP, a liquidity provider, that is not a simple transaction," adding, "It is like opening a market, and at that level, it is presumed that his mind was almost sold to it."

He continued, "Then, ethically, it is also against the duty of diligence. Because his mind was distracted," and added, "As a member of the National Assembly, he took an oath and there are various requirements, right? His actions are against those," he added.

However, he judged that the possibility of Kim voluntarily resigning is low. He said, "If he does not choose that (voluntary resignation), it will inevitably go to the Ethics Committee, and the Ethics Committee will have to make a conclusion," adding, "I don't think he will (resign). Judging by his current attitude."
