Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, expressed deep gratitude and respect to the patriotic martyrs and war veterans who devoted their youth for the country and the nation in commemoration of June, the Month of Patriots and Veterans.
Mayor Hong stated that our Changwon is a city of national defense that fiercely protected the freedom, peace, and democracy of the Republic of Korea with their lives. He mentioned that at turning points in history, including the Battle of the Western Masan area during the Korean War, the flag of national defense was held high.
He added that now we live enjoying freedom and democracy in an independent country thanks to the noble sacrifices of national merit recipients.
Mayor Hong urged, “Let us all honor the spirit of patriotism and veterans’ sacrifice, and ensure that these individuals can take pride and find fulfillment by showing social respect and courtesy to those in uniform in our daily lives.”
Changwon Special City plans to continuously promote veterans’ policies that repay the courage and dedication shown by patriotic martyrs and war veterans and inherit their noble patriotic spirit in observance of the 68th Memorial Day and the Month of Patriots and Veterans.
Mayor Hong said, “We will never forget the national heroes who defended the free Republic of Korea,” and added, “Once again, on the occasion of the Month of Patriots and Veterans, I thank all national merit recipients and veterans’ families for their dedication.”
