The Carbon Neutral Volunteer Forest creation project began in 2021 when Chungcheongnam-do, the region with the highest greenhouse gas emissions due to housing half of the country's coal-fired power plants, started creating the first forest in its budget to absorb carbon.

In November 2022, Hyundai Transys supported the project by donating 100 million KRW raised through its employees' 'Carbon Neutral Practice Walking Campaign' to the Carbon Neutral Volunteer Forest creation project.

This year, Hyundai Transys employees directly participated in carbon neutrality activities by planting saplings together with volunteers from the Chungnam Volunteer Center and Taean-gun Volunteer Center. Approximately 1,700 trees, including camellia, Japanese aucuba, and pink velvet, were planted on an 824㎡ (about 250 pyeong) vacant lot near Dangbong Observatory in Taean-gun.

Following Taean-gun, Hyundai Transys plans to establish an additional Carbon Neutral Volunteer Forest in Asan City in June.

Hong Sang-won, Executive Director of Hyundai Transys, stated, "As Hyundai Transys has a production base in Chungcheongnam-do, we will fulfill our responsibility as a member of the Chungnam community in the forest creation project for future generations," and added, "We will continue to lead activities for the local community and realize Hyundai Transys' core ESG management values."

Park Seong-soon, Director of the Chungcheongnam-do Volunteer Center, said, "Taean is a sacred place of volunteer hope that overcame oil spill damage with 1.23 million volunteers," and expressed gratitude for the participation of Hyundai Transys and the residents, adding, "We will continue to strive to make Chungcheongnam-do a sacred place of hope for carbon neutrality."
