Dongjak-gu Reconstruction Mentoring Group and Traffic System Improvement Selected for Active Administration

Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Ilha)'s policies of 'Dongjak-gu-style Reconstruction Mentoring Team Operation' and 'Promotion of Self Traffic System Improvement Plan' have been recognized as '2023 New Cases of Shadow and Behavioral Regulation Improvement through Proactive Administration' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety selected 56 cases as 'New Cases of Proactive Administration' out of 391 cases nationwide, which improved unreasonable regulations through proactive administration and enhanced residents' quality of life. Among them, Dongjak-gu's policies were the only ones from Seoul's autonomous districts to include two cases.

Since February, the district has formed the 'Dongjak-gu-style Reconstruction Mentoring Team' to promote rapid and accurate maintenance projects. From the redevelopment maintenance project planning stage, the public intervenes to support smooth progress such as on-site investigations and appropriateness reviews of safety inspections.

This is a case that prevented conflicts among residents caused by misinformation during the process of obtaining consent from landowners and others in the early stages of reconstruction, while also breaking the practice of passive administration.

In addition, the case of immediately improving an unreasonable traffic system through the promotion of a self traffic system improvement plan and resolving residents' inconveniences received high evaluation.

Last year, although the Shin Sangdo underpass located in Sangdo-dong was expanded and opened, there was inconvenience as residents had to detour through narrow and congested side roads due to the absence of a left-turn signal toward the residential area in the east direction.

To resolve this, the district designed and installed a traffic system improvement plan in consultation with residents and the police station, completing the construction of a new left-turn signal at the 'intersection in front of Shin Sangdo Elementary School.'

Along with this, the one-way traffic on the connecting side road was changed to two-way traffic, and the bus stop was relocated backward, actively working to improve residents' living convenience.

Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “We will continue to promptly visit the site to solve local issues and do our best to bring about changes in Dongjak that resonate with the residents.”
