Dobong, Gwangjin, and Jungnang Districts Conduct Cross and Joint Safety Inspections for Safety and Health Managers, First Among Seoul Autonomous Districts
Discovering and Improving Risk Factors Through New Perspectives from Experts of Other Districts, Benchmarking Best Practices
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong District: “Prioritizing Safety, the Three Districts Unite Their Will... Will Continue Ongoing Cooperation”
Dobong District (Mayor Oh Eon-seok), together with Gwangjin and Jungnang Districts, conducted a ‘Cross and Joint Safety Inspection for Safety and Health Managers’ targeting on-site workplaces. This is the first cross and joint inspection among autonomous districts in Seoul.
This inspection was initiated as all three districts recognized the difficulties in preventing industrial accidents due to the mixture of workers from various occupations, aiming to identify hazardous and risky factors from the perspective of experts from other districts and to check the overall compliance with safety and health obligations.
First, the three districts established their own inspection plans for on-site workplaces and formed a joint inspection team composed of safety and health managers appointed in each district.
The inspection team conducted three joint inspections targeting resource circulation facilities selected by the three districts on April 10 (Gwangjin District), April 26 (Dobong District), and May 10 (Jungnang District).
During this inspection, major risk factors such as insufficient fall prevention measures for high-altitude work, inadequate protection of openings, and lack of signalmen were identified, while the LED safety line on forklifts was selected as a representative best practice.
Each district immediately improved the identified hazardous and risky factors and is actively considering the introduction of the current best practices. Going forward, they plan to expand inspection targets to parks and landscaping facilities and promote regular cross and joint safety inspections.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong District, said, “Although this inspection reveals the raw state of safety management on site, it was carried out with the united will of the districts to learn what can be learned and prioritize safety. Taking this inspection as an opportunity, we will continue ongoing cooperation with other districts to prevent safety and health issues and serious accidents.”
