Gwanak-gu Recruiting Female Oral Historians for the Publication of 'Her Story' Book
Recruiting 8 Female Oral Historians by the 9th... Reexamining Women's Roles in the Process of Regional Development
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is recruiting 8 female oral historians for the publication of the ‘Gwanak Her Story’ Book, which focuses on the lives of women alongside the history of Gwanak.
The district is promoting the ‘Gwanak Her Story’ discovery project to reexamine the roles and contributions of women in the process of regional development, to boost women’s pride, and to spread a culture of gender equality.
Last year, 9 oral historians participated in publishing the ‘Gwanak Her Story’ Book titled “The Stories of Women Who Took Root and Blossomed in Gwanak.”
The recruitment period for oral historians is until June 9. Any woman who ▲is interested in oral history and can use a computer ▲has the responsibility and willingness to orally record and transcribe the stories of women in Gwanak-gu can apply.
Selected oral historians will complete a professional oral historian training course held four times starting in June, and then engage in collecting oral histories. The oral history work will be conducted from July to December through conversations between the narrators and the transcribers. The collected oral history records will be published as an e-book.
Women who wish to participate can check the announcement on the Gwanak-gu Office website, fill out the application form, and submit it either by visiting the district office or via email. For more details, please contact the Women and Family Division of Gwanak-gu Office.
An official from the district said, "We ask for the active participation of many women in the oral history project for the publication of the ‘Gwanak Her Story’ Book so that the footprints of women who contributed to the local community can be beautifully preserved."
