Jungnang-gu Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Muk 1-dong Hwarang Village Senior Center
Construction of Hwarang Village Senior Center officially begins on May 31... Scheduled to open in April 2024
Reborn as a place encompassing senior welfare, culture, and job support
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Muk 1-dong Hwarang Village Senior Center on May 31, officially starting construction.
The Senior Center is scheduled to open in April next year following the commencement of construction.
The site where the Muk 1-dong Hwarang Village Senior Center will be newly built has been home to the 'Hwarang Village Senior Citizens' Center,' which has served as a community hall for residents since 1978.
However, the local residents who owned the Hwarang Village Senior Citizens' Center donated the building to Jungnang-gu due to the aging structure and the need for more efficient management and operation.
Accordingly, the district decided to construct a complex building that would enhance senior welfare and satisfy residents' cultural life needs. In June last year, the winning design was selected through a competition, and design services were carried out.
The Hwarang Village Senior Center will be built with a total floor area of 487.7㎡ and five stories above ground, where it will meet the residents.
The interior will be composed of ▲1st floor community space ▲2nd-3rd floor senior citizens' center ▲4th floor multipurpose cultural center ▲5th floor senior club. In particular, the senior club will play a dedicated role in supporting senior jobs by discovering various senior employment opportunities, providing education and training, and managing follow-up services.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “The Hwarang Village Senior Citizens' Center, which has stood for over 40 years, will be reborn as a comfortable and convenient complex building, providing tailored cultural and welfare spaces for seniors and improving the quality of life for local residents.” He added, “We will work harder with the senior club to create and expand high-quality jobs in various fields and promote senior welfare and happiness.”
