Kim Young-deuk, chairman of the Busan Port Industry Federation, received the Silver Tower Industrial Medal at the ‘28th Sea Day’ ceremony held on the 31st at Baekgyeol Performance Hall in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk.
May 31 is designated as ‘Sea Day,’ a national commemorative day established in 1996 to widely promote the importance of the sea and to enhance the pride of maritime and fisheries workers. The Industrial Medal is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to national industrial development.
Currently serving as chairman of the Busan Port Industry Federation, chairman of the Busan International Ship Supplies Distribution Business Cooperative, and CEO of Eastern Marine, Kim Young-deuk was selected as an awardee in recognition of his contributions to national industrial development through his approximately 42 years of work in the shipping and port industry, holding key positions such as chairman of various related associations.

In November 2017, Chairman Kim achieved the milestone of having the Korea Ship Supplies Industry Association, representing the domestic ship supplies industry, join the International Ship Suppliers Association (ISSA), which includes major advanced shipping and port countries worldwide, as a full member.
Furthermore, in November 2019, he successfully hosted the 64th ISSA General Assembly in Busan for the first time in the history of domestic ship supplies, with participation from members of 39 countries and over 500 domestic and international ship supplies industry stakeholders, thereby significantly elevating the international status of Korea’s ship supplies industry.
In addition, he made major contributions to strengthening the competitiveness of the shipping and port industry through initiatives such as ▲holding the ‘Busan Port International Ship Supplies Expo’ annually since 2016 at BEXCO in Busan, with participation from over 430 companies from about 30 major advanced shipping and port countries ▲establishing and operating a permanent ship supplies exhibition hall at the Busan Port International Ship Supplies Distribution Center since October 2015 ▲introducing a system in January 2022 that recognizes ship supplies supply performance as export performance ▲signing an MOU for ship supplies business cooperation between Korea and Singapore.
Chairman Kim Young-deuk said, “This award is thanks to the unwavering support and interest of the surrounding executives and staff,” and added, “I will continue to do my best to contribute to the development of the shipping and port industry.”
