Improving Mobility Rights for Children and Youth with Disabilities in Gwanak-gu

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) signed a business agreement with Ottobock Korea Healthcare (President Jo Inju) on the 30th to enhance mobility rights for people with disabilities.

This agreement was promoted to prevent safety accidents through proper wheelchair usage education for children and adolescents using wheelchairs and to improve mobility rights for people with disabilities.

The main contents of the agreement include ▲assessment of wheelchair users' proficiency and support for safety accident prevention solutions ▲use of electric wheelchair driving practice facilities and sharing of safety education programs ▲collaboration in providing assistive devices and safety products for children and adolescents with mobility difficulties.

Ottobock Korea Healthcare, a leading company in rehabilitation medical devices, has been conducting the "Mobility Improvement Project for Children Using Wheelchairs" since 2018, supporting customized manual wheelchairs and electric kits for children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 with mobility difficulties who need wheelchairs.

Through this agreement, the district will support children and adolescents participating in the "Mobility Improvement Project for Children Using Wheelchairs" to receive proper wheelchair usage and safe driving education at the Gwanak-gu electric wheelchair driving practice center.

Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, "I hope this agreement will make wheelchairs strong legs that allow children and adolescents with disabilities to freely step out into the world," and added, "We will continue to strive to create a Gwanak that walks together with people with disabilities through various welfare projects for the disabled."
